FABRICATION & ASSEMBLY

DII is a proven leader in heavy and light fabrication capabilities, from fabrication of offshore jackets, drilling and production decks to process modules.

Our domestic construction and fabrication facilities exceed 274 acres. Covered facility space of 513,000-square feet includes a 35,000-square foot dedicated roll mill shop, with total covered shop space in excess of 218,000-square feet.

Structures up to 5,500 tons can be loaded out in our New Iberia yards, and up to 10,000 tons in our Lake Charles yard. DII has fabricated offshore oil and gas topsides up to 8,500 tons, but regardless of the size of the structure our clients receive the same commitment to safety, quality and schedule.

DII has fabricated structures in our Louisiana yards for installation in the Gulf of Mexico as well as international locations. We also utilize our fabrication facilities in other countries when local content is a requirement or offers a better solution for our clients.

DII is positioned to achieve the most demanding project deliverables, safely and on time and under budget. Our fabrication assets and the ability to ship completed projects by water, rail and road enables DII to support our clients’ domestic and international projects.

DII’s core capabilities include:

  • Heavy structural fabrication
  • Pipe spool fabrication
  • Plate forming and rolling
  • Blasting and coating
  • Integrated quality control

In addition these core capabilities, DII’s sister companies can provide a variety of integrated services including:

  • Scaffolding
  • Fire and safety
  • E&I and other related technical services

Modularization

DII has been very successful in recent years in modular fabrication and assembly of upstream and downstream process plant components. For many process plant projects, modularization can result in improved schedules and safer and more cost-effective construction.

Modular fabrication and construction offer a number of advantages over conventional "stick build" construction. Most fabrication and assembly work is performed in our fabrication yards, allowing the work to be executed under controlled working conditions and built to high standards of quality and dimensional tolerances.

Modular fabrication results in fewer fitting errors and re-works in the field because we can test-fit components prior to shipment. During a recent project for a new BP refinery in Indiana, we shipped over one mile of modules with no fit-up problems at the construction site.
