Nemba HPCI Stage 1 Project

Chevron Nemba Platform

This $450 million project was executed for CABGOC for their South Nemba A platform offshore Angola. The platform is located at a 386-foot water depth in Block “O” offshore Cabinda, Angola. The primary construction barge accommodated 360 POB and had an 800-ton crane. Onshore fabrication was performed in our New Iberia yard and consisted of fabrication of ICP spools, two 200 ton modules, vessels skids, deck extensions, stair towers, secondary steel components, and fabrication of pipe and cable supports.

The offshore work was performed under full SIMOPS and the scope included:

  • Replace and expand existing fire and gas system
  • Install six 25-man life rafts on the platform to accommodate work force
  • Upgrade both platform cranes
  • Modify SNA topsides facility for HP compressor installation
  • Demolition of redundant E&I systems
  • Two(2) platform shut downs
  • Remove and replace existing flare tip
  • NDT, hydro testing, bolt torque, PWHT, N2 leak testing, insulation, painting
  • Lift, install, hook-up, pre-commission, assist CVX commissioning of numerous modules and equipment packages including two 200-ton top deck modules,

The total project took four years including a 22-month offshore campaign. During the offshore work a total of almost 20,000 separate lifts were made. The entire project utilized almost 3 million man-hours with 2.5 million man-hours expended on the offshore portion with no lost time accidents.
