The Banzala Lago Project in Angola was a $220 million EPCI contract that included the design, procurement, fabrication, transportation and installation of two (2) 4-pile wellhead platforms, five (5) pipelines and two (2) subsea umbilicals. The 4-pile jacket fabrication was performed in Angola, Africa. The scope also included the installation of 12-inch production pipelines between platforms, 10-inch water injection lines between platforms and a subsea umbilical. In addition to the original project scope, other activities for Banzala Lago included the demolition of an existing 4-inch gas lift pipeline and reinstallation of an upgraded, 6-inch pipeline.
For this project, DII subcontracted and managed the detail design process, procured structural materials in-house, fabricated and subcontracted and managed the offshore installation of a 13,993 foot subsea umbilical, with power and communications, between the existing Banzala A platform and the new Banzala B platform. DII also designed, procured, fabricated and installed a 21,119 foot subsea umbilical, with power and communications, between the existing Banzala A and new Banzala C platform. The two 4-pile wellhead decks weighed a total of 2,200 metric tons and were fabricated in our New Iberia fabrication yard, with the jackets subcontracted to Sonamet, a local fabricator in Angola. DII additionally executed all offshore hook-up and commissioning for Banzala Lago.
