Jurong Shipyard was contracted by Petrobras to convert a 280,000-dwt very large crude tanker (VLCC), “Felipe Camarao” into a giant floating, production, storage and offloading unit (FPSO). When it was completed, FPSO P-50 was one of the largest converted FPSO units in the world with a production capacity of 180,000 barrels of oil per day and 6,000,000 cubic meters of natural gas a day.
DII was contracted by Petrofac (team member of Petrobras) for fabrication of two oil treatment modules and two gas treatment modules for installation on the P-50 FPSO. DII executed all structural and piping fabrication and installation, sandblasting and painting and self-performed the entire instrumentation and electrical scope for the project. The four production modules ranged in weight from 1,200 to 1,600 tons. Peak manpower was 400 employees and the project was completed with no lost time accidents.
